Showcase: Year in Review
One of our strengths as a San Francisco Bay Area photography business is our flexibility to photograph a great variety of subjects: babies to brides, portraits to palatial estates, food to fashion. By avoiding falling into any specific photographic niche, we not only keep busy throughout the year, but the constant challenge of ever-changing subjects makes us better photographers. We don't get stuck doing the same ol' thing every day, so we're forced to see each opportunity with fresh eyes and an open, creative mind. The above "Year in Review" gallery is an annual project we started to showcase a single photo from each assignment throughout the calendar year. This sounds simple, but considering many of these are weddings, choosing just one is really hard. We hope you enjoy the diversity of stunning subject matter captured with... a GoodEye.

We shoot 25-30 weddings per year and are usually completely booked by March. We may take on additional clients if it's a good fit.
Because we live here, we shoot weddings in the Santa Cruz / Monterey / Carmel area, but also find ourselves in the greater Bay Area and beyond for our wedding clients – usually San Francisco, along the peninsula (Palo Alto and Mountain View / Silicon Valley, San Jose); and we're always in wine country (Napa / Sonoma) and Lake Tahoe a couple times per year for full wedding assignments.

Although we shoot most of our portraits among the beaches and forests in the Santa Cruz / Monterey area, we frequently travel to the greater Bay Area – as far north as San Francisco and as far south as Carmel/Big Sur.
Our personal portrait photography services generally include (but not limited to): Family Portraits, High School Seniors / College Grads, Casual Portraits (Friends, Children / Modeling, Couples), Maternity Sessions, Newborns and Events (bar and bat mitzvahs, birthday parties & anniversaries, college graduations, dances, engagement parties / rehearsal dinners, fundraisers & charity auctions, high school graduation parties, or just any kind of party, really.)
Full Commercial / Corporate / Editorial Photography Shoots:
We are based in the Santa Cruz area, but frequently travel to Palo Alto, San Francisco, San Jose, East Bay and as far south as Carmel for commercial photo shoots. On occasion we'll travel to Hawaii, New York or other destinations for our clients – but we mostly stick to the Bay Area.
Commercial photography services include (but are not limited to): Architecture (restaurants, residential / homes, commercial properties), Business Professionals (lifestyle / casual portraits, business headshots, author / bio book portraits, staff / group portraits), Health & Fitness (day spas, education, fitness instructors, massage / rolfing, medispas, performance / active portraits, pilates, salons, yoga instructors / studios), Restaurants / Food (food shoots a-to-z by restaurant, bars / drinks / beverages, customers / staff candids), and Events (corporate events, corporate holiday parties, awards ceremonies, wine and food events, grand openings, fashion shows, education / classes).
Chris Schmauch (GoodEye)
I love technology and art (hail Apple!), but I also get long with pretty much everyone which makes me a rather unusual breed of nerd.
I keep busy throughout the year shooting at least 25 weddings and 175+ other shoots, a mix of commercial work for businesses (food/restaurants, architectural shoots, lots of business portraits), and of course lots of family-related sessions like maternity, newborns, little kids, and even multi-generation gatherings. I love it all, but weddings are still at the core of what I do, even if they're vastly outnumbered by my other shoots!
